Our Health Service In Distress
(Formerly known as SWASH formed to Save Whiston and St Helens Hospital)
Some of the members of this group can remember what it was like before Aneurin Bevan brought in the National Health Service. If sick people had not got the money to pay the doctor then there was no treatment for them and major operations wereout of the question. The implementation of the NHS was a revolution in careterms and it became the envy of the whole world. Sadly many people have now come to believe that the way forward for health is Private Health Care Providers.
If private firms provide care, they will do so to make a profit so inevitably costs will rise and the customer i.e. the sick and injured will have to pay. Bevan said if we want to keep the NHS we will have to fight for it NOW IS THE TIME TO FIGHT. Please join us to press the Government to reverse this Bill.

National Health Service being Privatised
The NHS SOS recently met a number of MPS to discuss the privatisation of the NHS. The MPs agreed this the last thing that should happen to a front line service. A spokeperson from NHS SOS stated, "The NHS was established as a public service in 1947, and we want to make sure that it is kept in public ownership, although this ConDem Government certainly want to privatise parts of it."
